The importance of letting go and finding inner peace

Have you ever felt stuck in a never-ending cycle of worry and frustration because you’re trying to control every aspect of your life? You’re not alone. I’ve been there, too. But today, I want to talk to you about breaking free from what you can’t control and finding inner peace. It’s a game-changer. When you learn to let go of what’s outside your control, you’ll find a profound sense of peace, happiness, and freedom you never thought possible.

Think about it. We spend so much time worrying about things completely out of our hands. We worry about what others think, the future, and things that might never happen. And what does it get us? Stress, anxiety, and a whole lot of unhappiness. It’s time to take back control, but not in the way you might think. It’s time to take control of what we can control and let go of the rest (what you can’t control). This shift in focus will empower you and bring a new level of confidence.

So, how do we do that? I want to explore that with you today. Get ready to breathe a sigh of relief and start living the life you deserve.

My personal story

I have to admit I used to control everything. I thought that if I could just control everything, I could avoid pain, failure, and looking like a fool. But the more I tried to control everything, the more anxious and stressed out I became. It was like trying to hold water in my hands—the more I squeezed, the more it slipped through my fingers.

I remember one time when we relocated to a new area. My husband was searching for a job, but none came. I was frustrated about the whole thing, coupled with the fact that the area had only one bus going through because I planned to make everything perfect for us.

Again, I started lamenting about the whole thing because this wasn’t how I planned. I felt terrible for my children who were suffering all this. Meanwhile, I used the 10% of God (The tithe) to sustain ourselves. Suddenly the bus that used to go through my area stopped going, then I got more frustrated.

And then, something just clicked. I realised I was wasting my energy on things I couldn’t control. The more I get angry, the worse things happen. Then the thought bubble came and said, “Don’t you think it is time you give at least a little of what you have?” Meanwhile, I told Jude, my husband, that the tithe (10%) was part of all this, but he didn’t believe me. So, I said again to him let’s give the little we have and be ready to give the other one when we have them, he reluctantly said okay.

My Personal Anecdote cont.

Guess what happened? The day he said okay was the day he found a job and started applying for it. Then we went to the church to give what we had. When we gave the priest the money, Jude immediately received a call for that particular job. They interviewed him immediately on the phone and asked him to start work the following day. Not only that, but the bus that hadn’t been going through in our area started going, and things returned to normal. Have you ever experienced something similar? Share your story in the comments below-I’d love to hear from you!

I took a deep breath, let go of my need for perfection, and enjoyed life again. I started to focus on the things I could control. And you know what? I had a fantastic experience—one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.

Practical strategies for letting go and gaining inner peace

It’s incredible how much stress and anxiety can be relieved when we let go of what we can’t control. Today, I want to share some practical strategies for doing just that.

One of the most potent techniques for letting go is mindfulness. When mindful, we’re present at the moment, not worried about the future or dwelling on the past. We’re able to let go of our need for control and be. It’s a powerful feeling.

Another strategy is acceptance. When we accept what is, we stop fighting against reality. We stop trying to control the uncontrollable and start focusing on what we can influence. It’s a game-changer.

And then there’s the power of focus. We become more productive, efficient, and effective when we focus on what we can control. We start to see progress, feel accomplished, and feel more in control.

But letting go of control isn’t always easy. It requires practice, patience, and self-awareness. Also, it requires being willing to examine yourself, your thoughts, and your behaviours.

It takes being honest about what you can and can’t control and being willing to let go. What strategies have helped you let go of stress? Share your story in the comment below. Your experiences can inspire and support others on their journey to letting go of control. I’d love to hear from you!

One crucial thing I’ve learned

One of the most important things I’ve learned on this journey is that control is an illusion. We think we’re in control, but we’re not. We react to situations as they arise, trying to hold on to what we can control.

But the truth is, we can’t control everything. And that’s okay—it’s more than okay—it’s liberating. We find freedom, peace, and happiness when we let go of our need for control. So, what’s the one thing you’re ready to let go of today? Type it in the comments to take the first step toward freedom!

One of my most powerful moments was realising that I was trying to control everything around me and how things would go. It was exhausting, and I couldn’t find inner peace while trying to control everything.

One day, I realised that I couldn’t control everything. And you know what? It was a huge relief. I was no longer responsible for everyone else’s happiness; I was only responsible for my own.

It’s amazing how much anxiety and stress can be relieved when we let go of our need to control others. Focusing on what we can control can also bring peace and freedom.

One of the most transformative experiences I’ve had was realising that I couldn’t control the outcome of my actions. I was so focused on achieving a specific outcome that I was missing out on the journey, on the present moment. Then, one day, I realised I could only control my actions.

It was a massive shift for me. I started to focus on the present moment, the journey, rather than the destination.

Wrapping up

As we end this article, I want to remind you that you can’t control everything if you want to find inner peace, and that’s okay. You can only control what you can. So, focus on that. Focus on what you can influence, change, and do.

And let go of the rest. Let go of the need for control, stress and anxiety, and fear of the unknown, and step into the present moment.
